The week before a sale, open 5 tabs: cache settings, PHP version, backup history, the activity log, and your plugin scanner. You click through each tab and check to see if there is anything that needs attention.
Now on Pressable you can skip these steps and paste this prompt into Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor:
Run a pre-launch readiness check on (your store). Confirm that the edge cache is enabled, the PHP version is 8.2 or higher, a backup was completed in the last 24 hours, and there have been no plugin or theme changes in the last 7 days. Also flag any extensions with known security vulnerabilities. Give me a prioritized list of anything to fix before go-live.
You’ll then get a ranked list of what’s okay, what’s not, and what you need to fix first.
Your AI tool can now look at your server
Pressable’s new Model Context Protocol (MCP) makes this possible. The AI assistant you choose will connect to Pressable and can check your hosting details. It looks at your server and provides accurate answers about what is happening on your site.
It can also take action
This connection doesn’t just read your settings. It can create and restore backups, clear your cache, enable defensive caching before a traffic spike, and bring a staging site to life.
Ask for the check in the prompt. Pressable’s recovery prompt does it like this:
Restore (store) from the most recent filesystem and database backups. Tell me which backup you're using before you start, and confirm when the restore is complete.
This allows you to identify errors before the backup starts. If you just want a read-only report, you can change the prompt to ask for it.
Other pointers for ongoing hosting maintenance
This MCP is not only useful for preparing for the sale. Here are some examples of other things you can do.
Suppose something broke, and no one knows why.
Show me the site activity log for (store). Summarize any plugin installs, updates, or deletions; theme changes; configuration changes; and any collaborator actions. I need to understand what changed before the incident started.
Or you’re trying to launch a banner on sale day:
Flush edge cache on (store) after I push my sale banner.
For when you need to set up monthly audits of on-site employees:
Audit access to (store) for this month. List all collaborators and their assigned roles. List all SFTP accounts and when each was last accessed. Flag any accounts that look unfamiliar or haven't been used in 90 days, and recommend whether to remove them.
Quickly connect to your chosen AI tool
In Claude on the internet you connect via OAuth; no token is required. Go to Customize → Connectors, click +, choose Add custom connectorand entered https://mcp.pressable.com. Log in with your Pressable account. (On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner must first enable custom connectors.)
ChatGPT connects via OAuth, although server MCPs don’t work for every account yet. Most can set it up by enabling developer mode and going to Institutions → Apps → Advanced.
Do you prefer Claude Desktop, Cursor, Gemini CLI, Codex or VS Code? These are instead connected via a bearer token. Generate an access token at my.pressable.com below Tools → Printable MCPthen find the configuration file for your app and paste a short snippet with your token. Pressable’s manual contains the exact steps for each tool.

Do you want him to also see orders? Flip another switch
Pressable MCP works at the hosting layer. Your products and orders are in WordPress and are created via a second link: the WordPress MCP plugin, which you enable per site Site configuration in MyPressable.
One nerdy catch: custom post types, like a lookbook or a custom product format, only appear if they’re registered with show_in_rest => true. If your assistant can’t see something you know is there, check that first.
How the Pressable MCP helps sellers
OWUP operates more than 60 WooCommerce sites in Norway and Sweden. Many of their customers sell through point-of-sale systems that are 20 or 30 years old, and those systems don’t always agree with a modern store about what’s in stock.
Inventory synchronization had been difficult for one watch retailer for years. The team connected Claude to the store’s database via Pressable MCP and provided POS data for comparison. Claude found the damaged product metadata, the rows where the two systems disagreed, and fixed them. Less than an hour, from start to finish.
“It’s night and day. With Pressable MCP we can process information so much faster.”
– Ole Straume Andersen, Managing Director, OWUP
