What’s new for sellers in WooCommerce 11.2

WooCommerce 11.2 is here with some exciting new updates. Here’s everything you need to know about the changes affecting the way you run your store.

Do you have a quote from a supplier that only contains UPCs? You can import it as is. Of “Update existing products‘ is enabled, the importer compares each row by ID, then by SKU, and then by GTIN, UPC, EAN, or ISBN.

If your store uses the Checkout block, you can now ask shoppers for a date during checkout, such as their preferred delivery date or their birthday. Shoppers choose the date using their phone or browser’s date picker, and you can limit the dates they can choose. Adding the field requires a short code snippet.

Selling to customers in the EU? You can now configure both emails that are sent when a customer requests to cancel an order: the confirmation the customer receives and the notification your store receives. Add your own message WooCommerce > Settings > Emailspreview it, choose who gets notified, or disable either email.

Whether your catalog contains 5 or 50,000 products, you can reorder them now. In addition, stores with variable products load and pay faster. When you retrieve report totals, they are loaded with fewer database queries; their memory usage no longer grows with the number of customers.

Enable sticky positioning for the Product filters block and the filters remain on screen as shoppers scroll through a long category page. That way they don’t have to scroll back up to refine their search.

Several other blocks also received new style options:

  • Quantity selectorsincluding those in the shopping cart: borders, shadows, colors and rounded corners
  • Product images: boundaries
  • Filter chips: font and spacing settings, plus rounded corners

Set this once for the entire store below Appearance > Editor > Styles > Blocksor adjust them block by block.

  • Account emails: If you CC or BCC yourself on password reset, new account, or email confirmation messages, these copies will stop. These emails contain login links, so only the customer will receive them now.
  • Download links: Standard download links work as before. A rare custom or imported link with malformed data may stop working. If a customer reports one, please resubmit the link from the order.
  • Store managers can no longer edit users who also have certain other roles, such as forum or membership roles. Your WP administrator can update these roles.

The full release notes cover API changes, developer advisories, and the database update: WooCommerce 11.2.0 Release Notes. You can also share the pre-release notes for more information.

11.2 includes security improvements, so be sure to update every store you have. It also includes a database update, so make a backup first.
